Better Recruitment handles personal information for employers and candidates. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and who we share it with.
We are based in Melbourne and work with clients and candidates across Australia. Questions about this policy can be sent to [email protected].
When you register, apply for a role, or ask to be told about work, we collect:
When you ask us to find someone for a role, we collect your name, email, phone number, company, the role details, a job description, and anything else you tell us about the team and the timing.
A general enquiry collects your name, email, phone number, and message.
We also keep records of the work we do with you. That includes notes of conversations, roles we have discussed, and the outcome of a recruitment process.
We use this information to recruit for permanent, contract, and temporary roles, and to provide executive search and the other services you ask us for. We use it to introduce candidates to clients, reply to enquiries, and contact you about a role or an application.
If you opt in to job alerts, we use your preferences to email you when a role matches. You can stop those emails from any alert we send.
We also use the information to run this website, keep our records accurate, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal information.
JobAdder is the recruitment system we use to manage candidates, clients, and jobs.
If you register with us or apply for a job, your details and CV can be stored in JobAdder as well as on this website, so we can manage your application and consider you for roles. If you already have a record with us, a new registration does not overwrite that record.
If you ask us to find someone, your company, contact details, the role, and the job description can be stored in JobAdder and opened as a vacancy brief. That brief is not published as a public job ad unless we agree to advertise it.
A general enquiry from the contact form stays with us. It is not sent to JobAdder.
Job ads on our job board are read from JobAdder. An application is sent there so we can assess it and keep a record of it. Job alert emails are sent by this website. They are not created inside JobAdder.
We share a candidate’s information with a client when we are considering that person for a role, or when the candidate has asked us to. We share what the client needs to assess the role. We do not publish a candidate’s CV on this website.
We may also share information with a referee you have named, with a provider who stores or delivers information for us, and with a professional adviser or regulator when the law requires it. JobAdder and the company that hosts this website are providers in that sense.
Some providers may hold information outside Australia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps so the information is protected in a way that is comparable to the Australian Privacy Principles.
A copy of a form submitted on this website is kept for a limited period, and the personal details in that website copy are then removed. Recruitment records we need in order to do our work, including records in JobAdder, are kept while we are working with you and for as long as we need them to consider future roles, complete a placement, or meet a legal requirement.
You can ask us to delete information we no longer need.
Email [email protected] to ask what personal information we hold about you, or to ask us to correct it.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, email us and we will look into it. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Our forms include a check that blocks automated submissions. The site uses cookies that are needed for it to work. You do not have to give us information. If you choose not to, we may not be able to register you, put you forward for a role, or reply to an enquiry.
